How often do you and other pros have to replace snagged baits or switch poles due to a snag?
Every one of my giant bass have come just around 2-3 pm in the summer. It's amazing how many anglers go home up after the sun is up and its 95 degrees.
So true!👍🏼 My biggest, an 8+ pounder, was caught right around noon on a brutally hot August day. The Seadooer’s and skiers we’re starting to show up and I was getting ready to head to the ramp. I had been catching spots on a shakeyhead and all of a sudden my spinning rod bent over and the fight was on. After I released her I gave my jighead a little tug and the 10# leader snapped like old thread…I had been seconds away from losing that fish. Thank god for a good drag.
I checked Google Earth later and saw that there was a deep hole under a overhanging rock that must have been her summer hideout.
Well said.
You know why I think so many ppl have trouble catching bass after say 10 am- it's casting accuracy. And I'm not trying to put anyone down or say I'm any better- I just recently figured this out myself. I would go out after 10 and try to catch them with no luck. I would see a laydown, over hanging limb, whatever and throw to it but- I wouldn't get bit and I would move on. What I finally figured out was that they are there- on the very tree I threw to- but they're not going to move even a foot or two to get that bait. If you want to catch them you have to put your bait right in front of their face- and that quiet often means putting it into some really gnarly cover within a tiny little circle. You need to be both brave enough to throw it in there, and accurate enough to hit a tiny target quietly when you do cause they're gonna be sitting in the best spot which is usually pretty thick and nasty- and they're not going to move much to get it.
Does the water type matter with what lures you are using?
Steve, i recently subscribed to your channel and i love it. I live in South Africa and find your advice excellent to apply even here. Your channel is up there with the guys from tactical bassing, and TRF. Excellent, again. Tight lines.
Most definitely learned something here. I’d like to try that 10-2 time frame myself. Sadly no boat and all I use at the moment is rooster tails, spider. Which I haven’t had any luck with the spider mainly because the spot closest to me is open field style.
I’ll have to upload a video if you’d like to see. I did catch a 5lb though around 5pm
Yes I do do you yes I do agree
You are absolutely right. When I started tournament fishing most events were draw and the rules entitled each angler half the day. I always let my draw partner have the mourning.
Same for me now that I think about it. 👍🏼🇺🇸
Captain America in real life?🤔
Great info Steve. I loved the simple explanation on why they hang out in the shade, with them not having any eyelids and all. Any advice on what to throw at a local lake from 10 to 2 (bluebird cond.) that has nothing providing shade at that time. Had a great summer with craws, critters, worms etc. I'm guessing that throwing out to get as deep as possible would be the ticket at this time. I know they are chasing bait fish at this time but do you think I'd have a shot with a worm, jig, or craw down deep? Open for suggestions. Thanks in advance. Steve J.
All my large mouth Bass has been caught in daylight then I switch to catfish around 5pm. I can fish all day long I've been at it over 28 year's. Texas rig, Mr frog and live nightcrawlers is my favorite.
Im going to Cedar Hill Park in texas tmrw! were going from 11am-8:00 pm im wanting to get into highschool tourney fishing and hopefully pro level! can't wait to get my Higschool team started. Any tips on shore lake fishing? wb gettign sponsors for a fishing team? TIA
I agree. 1030 to 1pm has been great for casting into shady spots.
I've been out for the last 4 days in a row. Typically been going out around 3-9pm in Northwest Arkansas 90 degree days, high humidity.
Been trying a frog, Texas rig worms, spinners, and crank baits. Following the app fishbrain shows them being caught in the places I'm at, and using the bait that's "popular" at that said location. I feel like I have to be doing something wrong. Fishing a lake, hitting coves, and anywhere alongside bank that I can.
Makes perfect sense.
Great info
Thanks man! I’ve really been into fishing recently and have been catching some nice fish but pretty slowly because I just never know when to fish: I came to the video because I’m fishing with my mom tomorrow and I wanna catch a fish for her.
