Question about dragging the jig. When you're pulling the rod tip up, doesn't the jig come off the bottom? I guess I can't visualize how pulling the rod up will maintain contact with the bottom.
Don't bite those lures, the plastic they are made of can cause cancer
Anybody that finds a way to use the word "plethora" in a bass fishing video gets two thumbs up from me🙂 Thanks for the videos. I look forward to your advice and knowledge.
Bite it off? Don’t buy a jig next week and buy a knife. 😁
Great vid! What brand are those cutters you trimmed with?
I like that hat
Gene, I grew up fishing all jigs on straight braid and I can feel the jig scrape over a rock, wood, gravel and feel bites well. I recently switched to straight fluorocarbon and now it feels mushy. I brought my jig back and realized I was fishing rocks and didn't know it. I'm sure I was missing bites also. I am really torn about this and I feel like my favorite way of fishing has to be relearned. I am using premium fluoro and sensitive rods but I feel disconnected to the jig now. I will not use a leader, It's one or the other. Any thoughts on this?
Wow, very good advice! Very helpful for a beginner like me!!
Awesome video! I float tube fish mostly. I have a horribly difficult time setting the hook with a jig while on my float tube. I don't feel that I'm able to get the leverage needed to pin the hook. Any advise?
My favorite technique for my rocky deep home lake is a 3/4 oz swing jig and rage craw trailer. X heavy 7 1/2 ft rod with flouro carbon line. Absolutely smash 4lb smallies in 15 to 25 ft of water this way.
Have never tried yet but I want to ty great video think this will be best with my 10.1.1 ratio
you talked too much and produce no result of the catching a fish.
Hey Gene. My tournament partner and I have a hard time being able to catch big bass. We catch the quantities but can't get the quality. We fish Hartwell, keowee, Russell, and Clark's Hill. Any pointers you could give to help us catch bigger fish!? TIA
jig & Tx Rsenko my 2 favs!!!
About three years ago I started looking for tips to help graduate from a guy that fishes, to a fisherman. I've fished my whole life, but it's dumbfounding how much I didn't know. Simple things like the difference between tips of line and when to use them and different rod actions. I upgraded my Zebco 303s and Walmart specials to Lews and Abu Garcia combos, and started trying to figure out how to use things other than crank baits. So far, this is the best video I've found on jigs. I got a few bass on his last year, but this simple shot video taught me A LOT about how I was using them wrong. Thanks!!!
Now I'm just waiting for the ice to melt so I can put away my ice fishing gear and start FISHING again!!!!
I like this guy
🤙🏻
Thank you Sir….excellent vid, learned a few new things !!
Good video. I need to leave the other gear home & just take some jigs to really practice. Thanks.
Why do you use a jig trailer that doesn't match your jig color? Is there some advantage to that?
I still don't understand the purpose of cutting the weed guard down. Rather just remove a few strands and keep my jig as weedless as possible
My go to jig is actually a swim jig in minnow color made by strike king. It works in Every lake, pond, or river I fished. It just works. Black and blue works most of the the time but only in some lakes from my own experience in the Midwest.
You really don’t have to set the hook that hard man… Jesus Christ
I promise you. That hook is pretty damn sharp.
I had the first time to have a problem with my fishing pole
Great Video! Would you recommend using braided line? I use typically 40lb braid with 15-20 lb fluoro leader
Jigs are the way to go! Great tips and your fish finder install was a hug help in the other videos.
You’ve doubled in size since I started following you. 😞
I used jig yesterday an caught 3lber. I should of kept the rod up high. Once I got the bass to the shore a made a rookie mistake an dropped reel tip as I went to lift bass the bass ended up having slack in line when it was on the shore an sadly dropped it. Least I got it to the shore but I have to remember to keep rod tip up at all times 😆😆😆🤷♂️
Gaining knowledge is what it’s about for this noobie. Thanks again!
Built my first jig box today with 1.50 arkie jigs in black blue, PBJ, green pumpkin, and 3/8th and 1/4 sizes excited to use what I learned this fall and winter!
Love your videos! I can sit on my lazy butt and watch them instead of TV. Hahaha when I'm not out fishing
this man informs, educates and looks like pablo escobar
I fish a sandy river! A lot!. Will I have success with a jig in those situations. Mainly sand. Very few areas that have rock and sand. And tons of down timber on the shorelines. Always use tubes and pull the smallies off the down wood. All shore fishing. I don't have a boat.
trailer? Uncle Josh pork frog EVERY time.
I have always thrown Texas rigs and crank baits for a long long time. One day I decided to put on the one jig I always had in my tackle box with a random trailer. Ended up catching a 27 inch tiger muskie in about 10 minutes. 3 years later, still haven't caught anything else with a jig
are you fishing in WIconsin
Would you fish a jig without a trailor at all?
Hey there Gene is fishing a jig from a kayak the same as from a boat
What was that awesome case you had all your jigs in? I didn’t see it linked below but liked the way it looked.
Who are the 46 losers who disliked this video.
Do you mean that jig is better for hard bottom than muggy one?
Thank you!
Fluke Master, such great advice, new to jig fishing here so I’ll be testing out your guidance.
Can you fish jig off the shoreline I don't own a boat
Either I missed it or you didn't say what weight of jigs you use . Thanks
