Bass Boat tossed driver without killswitch
Edit: Please check my second video (on my page and linked below) on boating safety for more explanation of what happened.
My dad and I were fishing in Toledo Bend in 2018 when this occurred. I bypassed donning my usual safety precautions because I was distracted and it almost cost us our lives. Despite having been on the water my whole life, I didn’t truly know how unforgiving the water could be and how quickly things can go wrong. ALWAYS wear your kill switch, life jacket and other PPE and know your equipment! Big thanks to the guys who picked us up that day, they probably saved our lives.

I'm 58 years old and been fishing power boats my whole life. I was almost in tears when I watched the driver go through all those emotions when he was able to stop his boat and no-one got injured or killed. Lesson learned and believe it or not, the power of this video has probably saved more than one life. Someone's Dad, brother, father or son went home to fish another day, because he wore his lanyard and his PFD. Glad you made it.
😱
Damn that water cold . . . .
and it deep too!
Chalk that one up to big motor, little brain.
BWAAAHAHAHAH!!!!! What a dumbass!!/"derp derp, like, you meannif I turn my boat when doing 60 on the water, it will throw men out?!?" I'm.just glad they weren't the type of idiots who do stuff like this with kids in the boat. Glad everyone's OK though. Being a dumbass doesn't mean I want anyone really hurt. I myself have done plenty of dumb shit, growing up racing BMX and motocross, etc. Its all good, just giving ya shit!
You could have the best NAV Tronics in the world but it don’t mean that you know how to navigate… 😂
yes yes killwitch and all that but im just wondering why in the world anyone would ever want or need to drive a tiny little unstable boat like that at almost 60mph, especially when you apparently didnt know where you were going and almost ran into something. If it was me my biggest takeaway from this experience would be to slow down and take my time, the killswitch wouldnt have been necessary if you just drove properly in the first place. there are boats designed to go fast and fishing boats arent one of them.
what are you guys going over 60mph for what? geeeeeeez hehehehehe hit anything and you would be gone like that lolz
The driver of this boat was driving recklessly. Doing 62mph on a lake is way too fast.
all the gear no idea
What is it with u yanks , gotta go fast as it will go and risk all our lives and tackle the fish will be there all fookin day ,go back now and look for all the tackle u lost mumptys
We all know the guy who jumped in the boat was singing mission impossible music in his head.
This EXACT thing happened to me while I was a passenger in my own boat. Thankfully we weren't going quite as fast and I had a hotfoot so the boat never got above 5mph or so and we were able to swim and get back in. I have never been the same on the water after that even when I've been driving. Life is short and mistakes like this only make it shorter.
why the need to go flat out though
????
So rescue boat is Louisiana registration. Maybe Toledo Bend then. Tough place to do this with all the stumps.
Is that Lake Fork?
At 30mph on water…. that’s fucking moving
Wow
Yep, first thing on the shopping list are some grab handles. Second is a kill switch with a lanyard.
Wow that's insane. And for him to jump in a moving in circle boat at 30 mph is also insane. More of a reminder why that Killswitch strap to the hand is essential
What a SAVAGE!!!!!!
So after all that do they still fish ?
Se estivesse com o Corta preso ao corpo não teria o risco do motor passar por cima! Uffaaaa
I hope more than one lesson was learned here. Obviously, wear the kill switch. 2. Know the limitation of your boat (or car) to make maneuvers at speed. 3. If you're going to make such a maneuver, have the skill to keep it under control.
just two stupid person who don't any care about safety cord-key …
LOL their stuff fell in the water, but at that moment having high performance underwear is what matters
My stratos would do 64 never had a kill switch makes you think twice
61 miles an hour I guess that's necessary to get to the honey hole 🕳 first.
What about his passenger 🤔 did they recover their equipment?
I love how everyone is commenting that going 60 mph on glass is reckless, I'll bet they're a lotta fun at parties lol. If your boat doesn't go airborne a couple times a day you're not trying hard enough lol
I’m glad that the father and son boaters made it out of the drink w/o any injuries except their pride. This could have resulted in two boating fatalities. Unfortunately, when I worked marine patrol enforcement, I saw just how dangerous boating can be! Everyone be safe out on the water. Also, remember that alcohol and boat operation don’t mix!
Bwaahahahahahahahahahaha Soooo cool Going so fast and all AND WOTHOUT that stupid kill switch nobody “really needs” 🤣🤣🤣 Get wrecked 👍 That old dudes’ nuts went right into the other’s face. 🤣💀
Darwin Award 🥇
Why is there no seat belts on boats ? Even if he had a kill switch he would have been violently ejected.
Did it trim itself
Yes, everyone does make mistakes. Going skydiving without a parachute isn't one of them…
Hahahahaha. That was great. If old man held on this would never have happened. But so glad it did.
Good example of why you don't stare at and mess around with your Lowrance while going 60 plus mph instead of paying attention of what's around you.
Not sure why he decided or thought it would be a great idea to turn that sharp while going those speeds. Luckily nobody died
Why was he going straight towards a buoy at 60 miles an hour?
What caused them to get thrown out? A wake?
bank fishing is his next venture
Never ceases to amaze me as to why bass fishermen have to run 70 mph just get to the next spot.
We can all learn something for this 🧐
What a very brave guy.
It was only 10 min but I imagine that felt like forever.
Why did they jump out ?
In a hurry ?
I liked how the passenger went all dead body like.
Seat belts save lives
Woulda saved it if gramps didn’t closeline him out of the seat
