How to Tie a Loop Knot for Fishing – Knot Contest WINNER!
This video shows in detail how to tie a strong loop knot for fishing.
It’s name is the”Non-Slip Loop knot” and it also seems to be called the “Kreh Loop Knot”.
This Loop Knot is very popular throughout the saltwater fishing community due to how easy it is to tie with any size leader line.
This fishing knot is best used with artificial lures because the loop allows maximum mobility the lure for the most life-like action possible. As an added bonus, the tag end of this knot points directly down towards the hook/lure, so it’s completely weedless… this is a big factor if you’re tossing artificial lures on the grass flats much of the time like we do.
As this video shows, the knot is extremely easy to tie and does not require the lure to have to pass through a loop during the tying process which is often tough to do when using a lure with multiple sets of hooks.
We currently performing a knot strength analysis on all of the top loop knots such as:
– Rapala Loop Knot
– Perfection Loop Knot
– Canoe Man Loop Knot
– Kreh Loop Knot
The results will be published on so be sure to drop by and see which one earns the status as the ‘best saltwater fishing knot’.

Do you use this knot for weedless hooks?
I've been looking for something like this for the Ned Rig. This ought to let the bait move around like it's supposed to.
Ah ha, so it's a bowline but the rabbit runs around the tree a few extra times! Glad I watched.
I wonder if this knot could work with a fishing hook i made with a soda tab
Always a great video
Upward? Downward? Clear as mud. I saw you do it, but have no clue what you mean or did.
Has anyone tested this knot, or any others for that matter, when cinched up with and without wetting/lubrication? Accepted wisdom is without lubrication it will burn and weaken the mono/fluoro, but has anyone actually tested and quantified what the strength reduction, if any, actually is?
Brilliant thanks
– or – a Pitzen Knot (Hangman's Noose with 3 – 1/2 wraps)
always use it for jig heads etc
Can you recommend a easy good knot for tying a 6lb main braid line to a 20 to 30 lb fluorocarbon leader?
Great video, I only use them on jigheads but still great video.
I couldn't remember how to tie this, it's been years. It works real good when you using a jig, gives a natural jerk motion.
Could you please help me with chosing the right type of knots? I need a taut string line to prevent pigeons from landing on my window sill. I have two screws on opposite walls, the screw heads sticking out a bit. It would be ideal if I could remove the knots easily and re-tighten the line when needed.
I have researched so many types of knots but could not figure out the right configuration–but perhaps it's a no-brainer for you!?
Great knot! Caught 120lb tarpon on this set up the other night
Chur bra
I respectfully disagree… My loop knot is the cleanest smallest loop knot ever conceived … It's been called both the Mirrolure knot and Rapala knot but regardless whom claims it , it is the best in my opinion… Starts out like you did and then simply make another over hand knot on top of the first one and if you have both lined up facing same direction (which is to the right) put your thumb and index finger in the loop that forms as you start pulling on both the tag end and main line in unison.. the top loop will immediately want to slide over the bottom loop and adjusting the size of your loop gradually pulling on both tag and main slowly … Absolutely the cleanest smallest strongest loop knot you'll ever tie..
Great knot.
If your Tying a loop not on a tungsten ice jigs how many times would you wrap the line with 3 pound test line thanks
Good explanation awesome video tight lines !!!!
Great video. Thank you for your efforts.
I learnt this as the Duncan Loop. It's the one I use for flies. Would it cast through guides OK as a leader knot?
Love using this with a fluke for freshwater. Does anybody know what this is called when you add a weight to the loop?
Thank you. Beautiful quick easy knot. New I should have joined the Boys Scouts.😂😂😂😂
I’ve been working on my perfection loop skills, but this looks much simpler. Thanks, I’ll give it a try!
The figure 8 knot is a lot stronger
Thank u !!! U have shown me a old man someyhing
I've been using this knot for my spinners. I always had trouble holding the lure and overhand while wrapping the line. I never thought of sliding the loop down to the eye to hold both while I wrapped.
much easier than most and very strong…Thanks
It would be a lot better if you trimmed your tag end properly. Nail clippers, dude.
