Is A Lifetime Florida Fishing License Worth The Money? Here Are The Numbers.
The lifetime Florida fishing license. Certainly not cheap, but then again, fishing in general isn’t cheap…
But the question has come up multiple time, “Is purchasing a lifetime fishing license in Florida a good deal? And at what age does it no longer make sense?”
That is what we answer in this video.

In this fishing license analysis, we compare all of the Florida lifetime license options (freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, hunting, and the sportsman license) against the cost of the annual licenses and permits.
The conclusion was it is always a no-brainer to invest in a lifetime fishing license for kids and anyone under age 40. Once you get above 50, the numbers aren’t as exciting, and once you hit age 60, it makes more sense to buy a 1 or 5 year license (depending on your age).
Currently in Florida, anglers over 65 do not need a fishing license.

MOST people who fish in Florida do not have a fishing license including me. I've never seen or heard of police or rangers asking for one either. Probably had 100 solid days of fishing just last year. They can go screw themselves.
March 2022: Lifetime Florida Sportsman is now $1,001.50 dollars. Saltwater and Freshwater are now over 300… each! Oh and regular gas is 4.00/ gallon.
Left Florida 20 years ago , Never used to be a Salt water law used to be able to cane pole fish fresh water with no license but bet that has changed now

I agree it's a good investment. I'm in california and a lifetime for ages 0-9 $562 10-39 is $919 40-61 is $828
–and 400 on top if you want second rod and ocean stamps —it keeps going up every year. I'm sure it was even cheaper decades ago if my parents bought one for me. But there is a downside. What if your kid no longer enjoys fishing ever again after they are a kid? What if they move to another state for school/work or just hates the state they grew up in? But I guess your chart shows that it will pay for itself at the break even point in only a few years.Doesn't really matter if its price effective or not. Support the local wildlife conservation and just pay it. I'm from Florida I love the ocean and I love fishing. Everytime I go I take a trash back to pick up where I fish at. Why because no one else does it. Fish and game is the only people who stand between blindly raping and poaching nature. If you love fishing the way I do support the cause.
Florida is such a ripoff. You need a license to walk down the street in Florida.
Good video. 2 things to mention ; 1 you don't need a license in FL if you're fishing from land or structure connected to land. 2 Me and the wife have yearly renewal and we will forget to renew sometimes which is costly if you get caught without one. We're saving up for our lifetime passes.
Also FWC has a free app that stores your license info AND has fishing regulations. It's pretty awesome.
Y'all are lucky, they have it here in Mississippi. I wouldn't mind paying $300 knowing my license was good for life. I'm not a active fisherman. Might go once every 3 months or once a day for a week, just depends on what my free time allows and my mood.
The life time Saltwater license here costs $1000. Total rip off. I'm 25 years old. Figuring I live to be 75 (and never move away) I'm still overpaying by nearly $500 over year to year. That's insane, I'm not really that old at all but this is the 18+ option..
PA doesn't yet offer this unless I believe if your a senior citizen. I got my 3 year for the first time this year. Saved my self $4.80 if I recall..
