This knot was used to tighten the rigging of the mast on Viking ships. But on thicker ropes you need to dress up the to inner loops so that the last one crosses over the first one.
You should put a loop through where the last line is put through so all you have to do is pull the tail that's hanging out and it will untie itself quickly.
Everybody talking about the line and the knot 🪢. But nobody has mentioned how easy those little pins on the tent ⛺️ twist and turn once your line has tension on them, causing the line to come loose
The tautline hitch slips far too often. You need to make extra wraps with it to make it really work. So 3 wraps on the inside loop and a minimum of 2 on the outside to finish it off.
When I moved across the country i had to make an emergency tarp tent to stay the night in because i had left my tent at my old house. I had to tie my tarp up in between 2 trees but didn't know a single knot (no internet reception at the time). Somehow i came up with this one on accident, and I'm glad I know the name of it now, thanks!
Or you could learn to do the hitch properly, so you can use it under massive loads. It's called the Rolling Hitch. The tautline hitch is like a kid's version.
I don't see ANY reason for this disgusting farting (you call "music" or "track") during speaking. Well we did that kind of beat ourself, but WHY while explaining something???

corporals corner taught me the truckers hitch. I use that for any taut line.
I already forgot
Taught line and the bowline

I learned this as a Boy Scout 50 years ago and I still use it today.
Arbors knot beats em all!!!
Nice 👍

Blake's hitch is much better.
Maybe you should learn to tie it properly before you start giving classes. Both demonstrations were tied differently.

The tent came with guy line tensioners.
At sea we call that one a rolling hitch.
Wouldn't cinch knot be better? You can't get tension easily using this knot
The only thing missing is that you didn't say "you can use it to make your line taut or loose, hence the name TAUTLINE"

Magic!! I’ve always used a truckers hitch on tent guy lines (overkill I know) This is way better! Perfect for “springy” tents. Thanks for this.
Great knot. This, with a prusik knot for your a ridgeline or to hang gear etc…

this is actually useful knot because the plastic things on my guy lines broke. i will use this
Oh cool. Another super easy and super useful knot I’ll never remember to use. Sweet.
I use this knot daily
The only knot you need to know guy…
Thanks 👍
I wanted to learn this knot the most lol
so first tauntline and second one is a bit different,
no. 1 straight tauntline
no. 2 cross tauntline
Yeah I’m really gonna remember how to do this one when I’m out in the woods ho ho ho
I don't think I've ever tied the same knot twice, ever.
This is called a rolling hitch.
isn’t that like a blake’s hitch?
Or you can learn how to use the tensioner dangling at the end of your tent guy line. 🤣
I'm sure glad I know a lot more knots than that.
That’s a Canadian Hitch.
I find it hard to remember knots. I’ve got two books on notes and I haven’t learned much.

This knot and its variants are extremely simple and useful!!!
