Northeast Indiana
Love Wolfeboro, NH. Lake Winnipesauke is awesome! The homes might be affordable, but their property taxes will gouge your pocketbook if you're retired and depend mostly on Social Security.
Ashland…..winter is brutal. Bring your long knickers 😉
That lady’s phone is falling in the water
Wondering if those states had no slavery in their history.. Thanks for the video.
Dells is fucken great! Crime stat is staying in hotels and all the calls for missing items. Seriously 0 crime.
Stop apologizing, you did fine.
Do a WA to B on why Connectcut to you is hell on earth!
There are 3 million lakes in the United States as a whole, and 125K lakes in the lower 48 states. How in hell do you pick 10 and call it a day? Lol. Rhetorical question don’t answer lol. I know you do a ton of research and love your videos. But I guarantee there are probably a few gems that you possibly missed that should be on this list. Way too many lakes not to miss a few lol Great video once again. Thx for sharing! Keep up the great work!
You never miss an opportunity to insult Mississippi. You are an jerk.
Would love to see a top 10 lake homes that are more south with winters that aren't so rough!
St Mary’s Ohio
It’s a very clean town.
The Lake is full of toxic Blue Algae, can’t swim or fish.
If you like church then this is the place for you. The entire area is a big catholic community. Beautiful old churches that the steeples are so high you can see the churches from miles away. I swam and fished that lake as a kid, it’s terrible what’s happening to the water condition. It’s suspected that farm waste and factory waste from over the years was a huge contributor to the problem.
Finger Lakes # 1.
Never heard anyone say video poker addiction…
Not gonna lie, but that cut deep 😬
This past summer I visited Wolfeboro, NH. for a day. It is nice. Ate at a great restaurant called Morrisey's Porch. Wolfeboro is also the terminus for a Lake Winnipesauke cruise ship that travels to and from Weirs Beach, been operating for decades. The main touristy section of town is rather small.
Frankly I'm surprised there weren't more New England towns on this list. I say New England is the best region of the country and there are many, many lakes and rivers up here. Briggs could make a couple videos like this on just New England.
Lake Placid has been discovered and is no longer that affordable. 15 minutes away is Saranac Lake which is moving up fast. Past that is Tupper. Tupper is the real deal for affordable lake town. In Placid, Affordable housing projects suck up all the labor, so hardly anything gets built in the middle class range and getting older homes fixed up costs about double. Also, locals will hate you if they think you are upper middle class and make a $1 more a year than them, but if you have a $2 million Camp (the lake homes are called camps) then you are cool. Also, if you are a seasonal employee, you are also undesirable and they will not rent housing to you. You need to commute, scumbag.
They actually think being from there gives them special rights, which it does. They get a pass on lots of regulations and minor laws, so they constantly want new laws and regulations to keep the seasonal residents and tourists from messing up their little paradise by doing just about anything but especially buying or renting in the village.
Interesting situation, the property taxes have hit a cap so that as values go up, the taxes really do not because the rates go down automatically. Still the school taxes are ridiculous because there are way too many teachers and other school employees. These folks are often the cadre for political action against outsiders. Read Animal Farm before moving in. It’s a roadmap.
Where did everyone go? Abandoned towns, abandoned buildings, abandoned houses, what happened? Can i know first who maybe answering?
I'm surprised you don't got Tennessee
You should do a video concerning places that have the best or the worst insect infestation such as mosquitoes…..
Thanks for not mentioning all the towns around the dual huge clear pristine lakes I live near, not to mention crystal clear rivers. I have 10 acres with 670' of lakefront and a 2.25 mile view to cliffs across from my house, and it cost way less than your $480k number. My state is red and the states closest to us are red.
I don't know where you got your info from, Briggs, but in your world, you missed this area by a country mile, and I'm glad for it. A government agency rated it as 'the best kept retirement secret' in the mid-USA.
Mild winters and summers, low crime and racial tension, no BLM or Antifa problems, and pro-2A gun laws with conservatives as neighbors. Don't come here if you want to bring your CA politics with you.
I don't know what your criteria was, as you didn't tell us, but you did us a favor by leaving us off your list.
