Interesting that Andy traps the line with his finger against the Rod handle. I was taught differently. I always trap the line against the spool lip with the tip of my finger, before opening the bail arm. I can then use the same finger to brake the line release.
I learned from Bob Nudd. That is how he did it. Time point 14:11 in this video shows how it is done.

Do I go around the clip once or just under it with a line ?
Whats the easiest way to clip back up once you have had a fish remove the line from the clip?
Do you just repeat the first steps?
Do enjoy Andy’s presentation.I’m trying to learn and he seems such a nice chap 👍🏻
New to angling however ur demos and explanations are Second to None, easy to follow
Thanks
This spooler was exactly as advertised>>>allabout.wiki/evtx Relined my reels prior to going to Canada for a weeks fishing. I did not have one bird's nest the entire time of heavy casting and many fish. Highly recommend this spooler over the traditional way of horizontal winding. Eliminates twists in the line. Quality of the device is very well made. Everything needed is supplied (minus the line) so you are good to go immediately upon arrival. Easily packed in my tackle box in case I needed it. A must have for all serious anglers.
can that reel be used for carping?
so why is the lower clip there? there are two clips right? the top one releases line if you have a fish on but what does the bottom one do?
Also time to clean your gear up 🤮 but no drop it to the car again 👊
Maps products eat your heart out if you got reels send back. Lol
Tip Guys: use silicon elastic works better then al those line clips
that in the long way damage your line just a small simpel Fact that works
I always snap the line using a clip
Andy is always a pleasure to watch, informative, relevant and great sense of humour – ooosshhh!
I have 3 of these map acs reels and have had a problem with all of them . I put the line in the clip , keep the clip at the bottom away from the rod . It casts great for a while and then for no reason it just pings out on the cast ( you can hear it ) and then im going all ray mears in the bush
When searching this clip it seems like there are only certain countries that use this feature…. at least thats what the search that youtube shows… everyone is European who is making vids.
Can someone explain the reasoning behind d the up and down action of the rod as the feeder is about to hit the water. Thx in advance.
And I always thought that little clip was to hold my line on the spool when I had no rig on……… Always been wondering how guys would be able to cast the exact same distance over and over and over hahahaha, cheers man! After 7 years of fishing I'm still learning new things and it's amazing! Thanks for the great tips and the very clear & straight to the point explaining of how it all works
Ive tried this, but , the line snappedĺ this reel looks the business also had it snap on on afish 6 pound line seems to light for this
You’re a good presenter mate, better than some of the so called big names.
Paddy from Emmerdale.
Hi it might be silly but if I find were I wish to fish put my line in the clip I will always get the same place again, what if I get a run I must then take the line out and then I lose the distance and must start all again, do I understand right. Barrie
A tip when using ACS, don't close the bail arm by hand because it sometimes can push line out of clip. Have clip facing ground and close bail arm by winding handle.
Andy bit of confusion hope you can clear it up.
you say you cast over your left shoulder, but did so over right shoulder !!! did you mean right??
not being picky just a bit confused…
nice bid as always..
Nice one Andy, great tips….Cheers.
