I have been looking at new reels around the $100 price point, and the two that I found that seem like good options are the Sage 1680 and the Ross Flyrise #4. Both seem to be fairly decent for the cost. Does anybody have any experience with either of these reels?

You might look into a Okuma Helios. I really enjoy all the Okuma fly reels I have and the Helios is the Creme de le creme of the group.

Thanks for your help guys...looks like I got some more research to do. I will let you know how it turns out. FYI, I checked out the Ross at Fisherman's Marine today and the drag is pretty killer. I compared it directly to the CLA 4 and there didn't seem to be a huge difference as far as operation. Everyone I have talked to at the flyshops say that the Ross CLA is the best reel under $500 but at $250 it is out of my price range. Anyway, I will keep looking.

FYI, I ended up getting the Lamson Konic. $145.00 it has the exact same drag system as their $400 and $500 reels. It is a mid-large arbor at 3.5" and it is very light. I really like it, got it wound with a Cortland WF 8 wt. line and nearly 150 yards of backing and it has room to spare. Thanks to everyone for all of your advice.
