View Full Version : Did the slide on the Wilson clear?

I remember a couple weeks ago during the flooding there was a slide on the Wilson. I heard yesterday that there was some concern that it wouldn't clear this winter and because of that the Wilson would spend most of this winter going out every time we got a little rain.

Any truth to that?

Did anyone fish or see it on Saturday or Sunday after we got a little water?

Color?

I didn't see it this past weekend but I saw it on the rise before that. On a 1 foot rise I would wait 2 days, on a 2 foot or more I would wait till the 3rd day. After every rain event we have, it will get a little better. And it should stay good above the north fork most of the time.

Is the slide actually located on the NF? That comes in right at the old guide shop right? I was under the impression that they had a slide on highway 6 for some reason. I prefer vanderzanden to the guide shop myself. Better water and less pressure. Gnarly ramp though.

What kind of ramp is it? Isn't it a newer wood slide type ramp or am I thinkin' of a different ramp???

The North fork enters at Lee's Camp. It had some major slides last year and it still blows the river out. Thats the Little north fork that enters by the Guide shop and it generally runs clear. But everything will be different after this flood.

It's a well built wood slide, but she is STEEP. Alot more so than Siskyville which is located downriver

This is an older slide and it's about 58" wide. Makes it interesting putting my 60" bottom boat down it...

After dealing with the put in, there is a couple spots where a guy could sink a boat. The rock garden as they refer to it can be scouted from highway 6 and it changes greatly based on flow. Generally, the higher the water the easier the garden is. When she gets low, she tightens up considerably.

Thanks for the info Mike. I'd like to make it up there atleast once this winter.

These pictures are from the 4th, and 5th aparantly. The bridge pic is obviously off of South Fork Rd. right off the HWY. The rest I really couldn't tell you. The report, was Devils lake fork, and Elk Creek were running clear. No report from the North, but this is the most updated info I can find at the present. Pretty Ovaltine'd, but still fishy I'm sure.

Wow, that is a steep one. I've never done a slide before, most places I have floated so far have been paved/concrete ramps. I have a rope type thing that would due for lowering my DB so that's not a problem but that slide is scarwey.....:D I take it you put your gear in your DB after launching? It seems that you stand a chance of losing gear if it is in the boat during the launch. Looks like fun though just the same.

Some guys do but there isn't any stairs to the bottom so packing crap down would be a drag. I strap everything down pretty good for travel, so I just leave it like that and let her rip.
