A friend of mine is heading over to LaPine this weekend to de-winter his parents place, and wanted some company....Plan on hitting Wickiup either Fri night or for sure Sat. If that is a bust, might go to Crane or even Lava (not sure if that one is open yet).

Plan on pulling some good sized raps targeting the big browns at Wickiup. Is it too soon for any type of kokanee bite?

Any reports from that side of the hill??? Giggsy???

Hope to have some pics to share early next week.

Yeah I just posted that one of my friends just killed it at Wickiup. Davis is starting to kick into gear but with this cold front rolling through these last two days who knows. The guys at the fly shop say it is too early for Crane. If it was me I would hit up the Deschuttes arm of Wickiup launching at Sheeps Bridge There are still some huge Bows just getting done spwning in the river below Crane that will be getting back into the system and there will be some big browns cruising in there too. The bay is pretty shallow even with all the H2O in it now so stay more towards the far shore just trolling around or flinging some silver spoons or panther martins. Sat over in the Davis arm of Wickiup will be a zoo so I wouldn't even think of going over there. If you do hit up Crane throw panther martins in the channels with a twitch anb drop slow retrieve. Dont park up in the trees as you will see a lot of people do you are better off in the channels going deep. There are some big beauties in there. The local guides say it is harder to find them with this much water in the lake. Good news is that it is about two feet lower than last years opening week. Good luck and I might even be out onb wickiup at some point this weekend. So if u see a crazy little Irishman on a red 9' toon flyrod in hand trying to talk to fish that will be me. Good Luck

Thanks a bunch Giggsy! That's a ton of great info! Hopefully we can put it to some good use.

If I see a crazy little Irishman in a red toon, I will yell at ya...If you see 2 idiots in a small bass-tracker boat that don't look like they have a clue...that would be us!

Good luck out there!
