RollinontheRvr

Okay, so we have been talking about a Sandy River float trip. I am up for it, anyone else? It sounds like a great day to me. It will give us a chance to put a face with a name. Being new to the forum I know I would like the chance meet and fish with other people here so what do you guys say, shall we do it? Let's hear from anyone and everyone and set it up....:D

I'm in. I'd love to front seat down the Sandy sometime. Perhaps we could have a filet and vac pack session in the garage with some darts and homebrew.

RollinontheRvr
01-09-2009, 08:37 PM
I suck at darts but good at home brew.....:D

TailOutSwingin
01-09-2009, 09:02 PM
I would play. Right now my drifter is in need of a little repair (wood is quiet and warm, but a pain to maintain!) but I may have it ready in time. If not I am really good at sitting up front and relaxing;).

Or I could be part of an "auxiliary toon brigade" if we are short on DB's.

And everyone gets better at darts after some home-brew!

I don't have a drifter, but I do have a toon! I would love to float.

Arctic
01-09-2009, 10:08 PM
I might be able to wrangle the DedDrift together with an open seat..If not I will toon it..No friggin doubt! Sidedrifting Steelhead is a rush from an 8' stillwater carpet.

Yup IM in, Does Alan have a DB? He claims to be a sandy noob but I will front seet with you if so and help out?

Osmosis
01-10-2009, 12:51 PM
nope dont have a DB. been trying to find one cheap. Maybe I'll have one in time for the float.
Arctic has a small one.

yeah I'm sandy rookie. I've caught more than a couple fish from it, I just know the clack alot better.

Chinook SSSF
01-10-2009, 01:06 PM
Thats ok, thats exactly how I feel about all the boat water on the clack : )

Arctic
01-10-2009, 01:32 PM
Hell yeah Matt, and Al...If I can manage to get this bastard goin, I would love to have two competent fisherfolks on board. It is small, and nasty green, but it has two seats, and I don't think my friend is gonna be able to go, so if I have the room, or the boat period...You guys can have first dibs...I will need to get schooled up on the Sandy during the drift, but all I need to know is how far out you want to be from the bank...This is sounding fun as hell!

williesteal17
01-10-2009, 02:46 PM
I'm up for that could also have an open seat or 2. Just figure up a date and time. I don't mind just rowing and watching either..

RollinontheRvr
01-10-2009, 05:54 PM
Okay, sounds like a bunch of us are up for it so what's next Matt? I have never done this before so what's the best way to set a time and date for everyone to get together and float?????:D

Chinook SSSF
01-10-2009, 07:07 PM
Well IM not the one with the boat so lol, you guys with the boats need to pick a day. I will make it open when I get it....I can suggest a weekend but we would want to just take it slow and enjoy the float with the others that will be trying as well.

I think most work weekdays right?

RollinontheRvr
01-10-2009, 07:25 PM
A weekend day sounds good to me. The nice thing about the Sandy is that it is not a combat zone on the weekends, at least not the times I go out. I generally fish every Sunday when the fish are running. There have been tons of times where I have seen one boat or none at all, that's part of what I like about the Sandy.:D:D

I Will probably have the wife with me Saturday night. I have a freind that shuttles me on the sandy when I run it. He just drops me off at Oxbow with my rig and then picks me up were ever we take out at with my rig. So for the float day trip I could take people back up river to get rigs . It's a Suburban and 6 or 7 people can fit. Also has a winch on it and could drag boats out at Dabny if need be..

Sounds good Willie, I have something to pull boats out with to so we should be covered. Wives are welcome of course, mine will be working so she won't be able to join in unless plans change for some reason. Anybody else bringing their wife?? If so, let me know so I can save us a big enough table.....

OK, I finally had time to get on and catch up. I know I can't make the pizza, but I would very much consider getting in on the float trip. I don't know anything about the Sandy, but I do know a thing or two about winter steel and rowing my drift boat. I have a 2003 17" by 54 Willie with comfortable seats and nice heaters, if needed... :)
Depending on the date, I may be up for it. I would have at least 1 if not 2 seats available. It would be a great chance to get down there, fish the Sandy, meet the imfamous Matthew Clark and have a really good time. Rollin, keep me posted on the events, we'll see if I can't put this all together.
P.S. Matt, I saw your note to the editor "Keep The Flame Alive" in the journal. Nice touch....:p

Exactly Matt, letters to the editor. Winter 2009 volume 6 issue 1... I didn't notice any articles on the Keni and or photo shoots with your or Nicks name attached. Funny you would mention that, I figured Pat might have some of your quality stuff in there from time to time. When I see him in Puyallup next week I'll aks him "Hey where are all the Matthew Clark photo's in your Journal"...:D
By the way, we had lots of water in our Fire District, however there is a very good reason I bought a house many years ago in the South HILL area of Puyallup. No water problems in my neighborhood. Thanks for asking...;)

Not at all familure with the area, I do know this. Sandy, the town of is about 162 miles and or almost 3 hours from Puyallup. So, where exactly on the river and or what stretch would we be on. Also, a good place to stay one night as I'm sure I would put in 2 days of fishing if someone has the time to join me...;)

Lotsa places to stay, you don't have to go farther out than Gresham, Ox bow Regional Park is close to where Highway 26 and SE Powell Blvd cross. If you can make it down I will give you my number and you can give me a call when you get into town. I have a fenced in yard with dogs where you can hide you drift boat if you want to. Depending on when the float is set up for I might be able to hit that second day with you unless you have someone lined up already, I wouldn't want to step on any toes....:D
