Funny how things are interpreted on the internet.
Nice guys with lots in common baggin' on each other for everything from big important issues to little silly stuff. My favorite is the 'size of a fish' argument. You just can't tell how big a fish is in a picture. Some guys are small and have making it look bigger than it really is down to a science. Other guys are big and make a 20 lb. fish look 15. Some pics (lots) just don't do a fish justice, no matter how big a person is or how far they tweak a part of it at the camera.
Anyway, be careful out there and remember that you never know the truth by lookin' at a pic on the internet!

Hahaha... One thing that my fly fishing teacher talks about a lot actually is getting good, quality pictures of your catch and the surrounding environments (since he's a guide and part of his job is making sure he gets quality photos for his clients). He said the best thing for getting pictures of fish is to get the fishing rod in the photo too, or something else that others can easily recognize for size variations - so that you can relate the size of said item to the size of the fish. Most people like to avoid doing that though so they can "guestimate" the size and weight of their fish... lol beware!

Sorry, but no way that fish is 2500lbs. Look at how far you are holding your spear out toward it. There is no way that fish is over 1750lbs:D
I have caught plenty of 2500lbers and they were way bigger than that!:p

Taking fish pictures isn't quite as easy as point and shoot! So many thing to consider, such as shadows, background, lighting, and of course the fish.
If the person's face is shadowed, even in the middle of the day (maybe due to a ballcap or ???) turn on the flash! This is great for taking those shadows out.
Try to visualize how the finished product will look after the shot and use your camera to frame the shot. Hold the fish out in front of you, or at an angle (not just haning on your finger). Sure it may make the fish look bigger, but hey, it's all about size right. Think about what you want to be the primary subject of the pic... the fish or the fisherperson.
By the way, take some time to rinse off all of the blood... many great shots become average because of the blood running down the side of the fish.
If you intend to release the fish, keep it in the water until you are absolutely ready for the shot. Take it out, snap the shot and put it back.... we don't want to look like the fishing show's on TV... Remember that the fish has to hold it's breath while out of the water:eek:
Here are a couple of shots that I really like:

So, be creative, the fish doesn't have to be a world record to make a nice picture.
