This is the second part of the Roaring Sunsets post. These are some of my best sunset shots I have done in most recent years up to now. I am considering having a few test prints of each made to check their consistency and color for large scale printing. Most of these are shot with a timer and a timed open shutter so they should be pretty rich. Enjoy

Chinook Landing: This photo won a simple forum photo contest for me!

Chinook Landing: A personal favorite. So natural, this will be large and in charge on my wall some day : )

Gresham Oregon: The remarkable color in this skyscape comes from a "Split 50/50 blue Sky" filter. The blue in the upper half of the filter cooled the hot shades of red and orange to a cooler purple and pink. The camera was set on "Programmed Auto Vivid Color" and shot on a tripod with a timer.

Columbia River: Another easy personal favorite, the boats bring life to an already roaring scene. This is a great example of a pre-sunset shot. Most would call this a sunset but the sun is still up. Often times the scene before the actuall sunset is much more inspiring and beautiful. Dont wait for the sun to set to start shooting!

Gresham Oregon City Transit Center: Working around power lines can be a chore but I love the way the lovely golden street leads the way into this quiet summer scene. Shooting straight into the sun caused a desirable effect by painting the streets in gold while blacking out the houses behind the blacktop. A commonly used neutral density filter that is used to balance the upper and lower field of light would have destroyed this image. Careful what rules you follow, they may trap you away from your own creativity. This shot is all about making some damn fine lemonade.

Vancouver Washington: "Rainbow in the Dark" Sometimes things just go the way I wish them to : )

Vancouver Washington: I named this photo "Speed Away from the Sun" When I took this shot I remember thinking there is now way this is going to work! because he was going way to fast! The camera fired 3 shots in a row in a speed burst of less than 2 seconds, 2 photos came out very blured beyond use and them this!!! Timing really must be everything and again, dont wait for the sun to set

Thanks for taking the time to view these and for all of the positive input on the Roaring Sunsets Part 1 set (http://northwestfishing.info/showthread.php?t=542).
