I carry my camera almost everytime I go on a fishing trip but the Deschutes is one of those places I will spend a good majority of my actually shooting rather than fishing. While my partners are always casting away I find myself heading to the car for my tri-pod to set up on the inspiring high desert scenery. To me spending time over here is not about just fishing, is almost a state of being with fishing included. You only have to stop moving for a minute and look around to see what a different and special place this is. I suppose some anglers could come here and simply fish and move on without realizing this. Surely the savy hunter or angler would notice the big horn sheep on the hillsides or the football shape redside trout rolling in the reflection of an eastern alpinglow.

Fishing for steelhead in the afternoon is always a blast yet challenging. I look for fish in deep green troths and runs with shiny brass spinners, larger then most use. I enjoy watching the redsides roll in the evening as well but I lack the PHD. entomolgy background needed to have my way with them.

At the end of the day my partners are always casting away into the evening rise and IM up on some grass covered bluff pondering the next timeless capture to serve as a marking point in a lifetime of angling memorys. Always with a much more simple outlook on the day then myself, my friends seem to appriciate these images weeks later, then truly understanding the value of the special place we visited.

I have been doing this for most of my life through each and every chapter. Photo books covering most every place I have ever been fishing since I was 10 years old lay on the coffee table, ready and willing to share once again these memorys in image.
