Sandy River Fishing: Frozen icy glaciers on Mt Hood are where the Sandy river begins its life. The Bull Run watershed and several other rivers such as the Zig Zag and Salmon also feed life to the river as it works its way towards the Columbia river. Often carrying a great deal of sand or silt the river can be off color many months of the year. The Sandy river is a very scenic river with many natural areas to explore and fish. Several state parks along the river offer camping to base your exploration from. The headwaters area of the Sandy River and tributaries within Mt Hood National Forest offer catch and release trout fishing in a pristine setting in many locations. Along the Salmon River the 'Salmon River Trail' gives you access to several miles of stream to fish in. Wildwood park near Welches also has camping and access to the Salmon river. This park is disabled access able with paved or improved trails leading around the park and surrounding wetlands area. Oxbow Regional Park on the middle section of the river has an improved boat ramp for drift boats along with several miles easy to access bank fishing water. Glenn Otto, Dabney, Lewis & Clark and Thousand Acers parks near Troutdale Oregon give anglers access to most of the lower river with even more access to be explored by checking pullouts and parking areas along the Crown Point Highway.
