This is just a quick run down on how I have been doing spawn sacks.
I usually end up using up old eggs or eggs that I wasnt happy with for flavor or texture or whatever.
These are bad cell phone pics, but you get the idea.
Here is what you need:
Cured Eggs
Prawns
Egg Cure
Spawn Net
Miracle Thread
Yarnie Trimmig Scraps
Step 1
Dice/mince prawns up into small bits.
Put them in a baggie with enough egg cure (pick your flavor) to coat them evenly.
Set them aside for 1/2 hour or so.
Step 2

I cut my cured eggs into very small pieces that and I "recure" with a new cure that is better than what I used to use. You can also just "recure" with whatever you used the first time. You want to just put a light dusting evenly across the eggs. It is easy to burn them with this step so be careful. All you want to do is get them juicing again.
Step 3

Lay out some of the Spawn net and put a little bit of egg in the center.
Step 4

Put a couple of the pieces of prawn on top of the eggs.
Step 5

Put in a few pieces of yarn. I save my yarnie trimmings and toss them in.
Step 6

Pull the corners of the netting up, twist closed and wrap 4 or 5 turns of miracle thread around the twist and snap the thread.
You can trim the excess netting or leave it if you want.
I toss them back in the container that I was "recuring" the eggs in so that they suck up any extra juice that is in the bottom of the container and toss them in the fridge. They will juice a little and reabsorb and mix prawn/egg/cure all together.
I do various sizes from dime to just under a quarter so that you have some options when you are on the river.
I also do some with and some without the yarn.
I like the yarn for the contrasting color and it will hold scent well. The yarn also helps if you have been fishing one of the sacks for a while and want to reapply scent while you are fishing.
It is easier to do smaller ones without the bulk of the yarn.
These go pretty fast once you get going on them. I did up a little over 50 in a half hour or so and 50 of these baits fish for a long time!
Here is the bucket o' bait pic. Really bad pic for color, (the baits are bright red eggs with dark purple prawn chunks).
