• DaD's Home Cooked Fishin Lures!

I think most everyone that is into fishing takes a crack at making lures of some type. In my teens my father and I did a lot of bass fishing so naturaly we tried our hand at making bass lures. My first attempts were to simply paint over old lures that had lost their finish. Dad on the other hand had to go all out and fancy himself a wood worker and build HIS bass lures from the ground up. He was not exactly trying to re-invent the wheel so he fashioned the bodies after other well known bass catchers of the time.

Starting on the top left, going down these hand made babies are fashioned after Arbogast Jitterbug, THROBBER Hula Poper [dad's did not vibrate like the real one..no spring inside] Heddon River Runt Long Bill. The four cigar shaped lures to the far right are Heddon Zarra Spook and Baby Spook copies. Not sure about the lure in the very center because it looks more like a plug cut herring. Some of these lures actually caught fish due to the aggressive nature of the largemouth bass.
