I gave it a shot with your push Ed. Walked a new stretch of stream for me. Walked down from 213? Estacada highway, bridge to Bonny lure. It was getting dark on me so I walked from Bonnie on the road back to the truck. Made for a long walk in waders, only saw one fish the whole way scared him out of 8 in of water. He burned up river and had a big white spot on his head. Its a wonder they can make it up stream with all the obstacles in there way, slides trees and log jambs.

All the water upstream and downstream from that bridge is private property.

Yep, and since it's non navigable alot of those land owners are a bit excessive about making sure you stay off "their" property. Sounds like you got pretty lucky making it all the way through without atleast getting yelled at!

I hope you guys got some extra fish for me I was helping a friend move!

    Red face oops!

Well good to know I thought I was all right if I stayed in the creek bed. I've just seen trucks parked there at the bridge and followed suit. I should have known better, No one said a word though. Guess that walk will just have to be happy memoirs even with out a hook up.

    Todd,

Should've gone upstream more. Even way upstream. I bet you would've had better luck.

Also, get over to those coast streams right now. I bet your luck will improve.

Todd, I too walked a new (to me) stretch of the sandy yesterday, it's a fun experience fishing and exploring new water it's more of an adventure. Some days I fish I probably do 60% fishing 40% hiking, but it's fun to explore new areas and sometimes it really pays off in the long run with the places you discover.

What do any of you make of this quoit from the OFWD sight?

"Long stretches of Eagle Creek run through private property and anglers must stay below ordinary high water as they travel up or downstream from public access points. Pay close attention to where you fish and we encourage you to ask permission prior to accessing or crossing private lands on your way to your favorite fishing hole. See Page 2 of the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulation pamphlet for more information on “Your Rights to Use the Surface, Bed, and Banks of Oregon’s Rivers and Lakes”.

And if you read Page two. It seems fairly ambiguous to me. Its almost like their daring you to see what you can get away with. I know its not " Navigable" but it still seems a little unclear and almost as if they'd like a court case to establish the law in black and white.

Or a dead fisherman on their hands and someone in jail for "protecting" their property.

    Default Ya' know...

If people wouldn't trash the land owners property then maybe they wouldn't be so touchy about people walking the water line or above. Too bad, we probably couldn't reverse what has already transpired.
