Thread: O.M.R. info Get Informed ...

  1. Thumbs up O.M.R. info Get Informed ...

I continue to admit that I am against O.M.R's [Oregon Marine Reserves] with all my heart and am for public use of fishing grounds with proper restrictions. I have watched what they did to fisherman in California and want to see it go away here. This is a good info link about this process and how to fight it as an Oregon angler. Notice the FAQ about half way down...just the facts. Thank you for looking!

Fighting over the fish will only serve to divert us from our common goal.

I am also dead set against marine reserves. Anyone who fishes the ocean knows how bad it will be. Quotas are the way to go. If you close areas, you essentially do just like the internet, take pressure that is spread out among many areas and concentrate it into just a few small areas, wiping out the fish in those areas. Another thing to think about, what good will marine reserves do when it comes to salmon and tuna fishing? These fish are migratory, and are just "passing through". Closing those areas to fishing wont help those fish stocks, but will be a loss of opportunity for anglers.

To add to that, loosing bank fishing areas along the coast line is just sad....Most surf casters can not cast to even the 5th break you know : )
