You guys have really hit the nail right on the head.

I'm just entering the salmon/steelhead fishing scene, having only been in it for the last 3 years really (but I've only fished maybe 20 or 30 times at most due to being in college). But I know that this ban is going to change how I'm going to be able to fish in my near future. My first steelhead was caught on cured eggs that I'm sure had S.S. in it, and the several that followed also were.

I'm really at the point to where I want to start trying to do something about this... but as usual, the ones with the power and the say in everything are the ones with the money... And I don't know if the egg cure companies are going to do anything about this except merely accept it for what it is... Which is sad.

I fully agree that this is a very low factor in the "mortality" of juvenile and adult fish, at that rate they might as well ban the use of lead in all fishing tackle...

This study is a joke! People think of a desired outcome then design a test around it to achieve the desired results. That's not science. If you fed 20 people a diet of only organic Kobe beef or organic carrots etc, there would be all types of ailments. Where does a smolt eat nothing but cured eggs for a month straight?

I think this has a lot to do with the EPA, to blame it all on fly "guys" and commies isn't entirely correct. Keep in mind that the EPA is currently trying to ban lead bullets and other silly green agendas.
