    Default Introduction

    Hello Everyone!

Was informed about this forum, and was very excited to join! I've been fishing since I was 4 years old... My father brought me to a local trout farm. I was hooked to say the least.. Just addicted. My father enjoyed taking me fishing more then fishing itself. He also didn't know much but the very basics on trout fishing or warm water sinker/worm fishing. He enjoyed it too...Bbeing uneducated about the sport it was tough for him to invest alot of time without having the fullfillment of catching alot of fish and being ok with getting skunked now and again. He also thought I didn't have fun and wasn't impressed by his teaching or the experience I had with him. Fishing to him was 3-10 times a year. I would have went every day if I could...

The more and more I fished, the more I grew to love the sport. No matter what point in life I was, I could always count on fishing. Tiny kid: Toys or Fishing, I chose fishing. Teenager: Friends, or fishing? Fishing. Adult: Wife or Fishing? Fishing! (JK ANNA) lol I grew up in St. Johns north Portland. Graduated from Roosevelt High School. In fact, when I was in middle school, I skipped weeks of school... where did my mom find me, at the St. Johns dock fishing! Wasn't the right thing to do, but I am addicted to fishing! The bad part was, I thought I went alot and was experienced, but was wrong.

No more bragging. The more I fish as an adult (25), the more I realize I don't know as much as I thought I did about fishing! This in itself makes me more drawn to the sport. I've always had a great Sturgeon game... No problems in that area. Always went Salmon fishing with guides on the TB and Willy and Columbia. Never tried it on my own. The guides made it very easy. This combined with my previous trout river/lake and bank/boat fishing I thought it was easy enough. Boy was I wrong. What the guides made look easy, wasn't quite as easy as it seemed.

I've been Salmon fishing on my own now for almost a year, but have been salmon fishing for 6 years. I have so much to learn and I hope to share or contribute in any ways possible.

Ian (Arctic) & another sssf'er shared this forum with me on a recent trip.., Thanks to them and everyone else! Just reading this afternoon I've learned on alot of the previous threads.

    Tight Lines!

Hey Jerry welcome to the forum. Lots of past threads to burn up hours with, but we don't mind rehashing topics either. If you can't find the info you want, don't hesitate to ask!

Right on, welcome aboard! This is a great place. I don't think it's possible to stop learning new things when it comes to Salmon and Steelhead fishing, each stream has it's own personality and that's what keeps it interesting!

Welcome Jerry, Alan is totally right. We like telling stories over and over....just gotta make sure they're the same since you can actually go back and check.

St. Johns Represent!!! Hahaha, welcome to SSSF, Jerry. You are exactly the kind of folk we look to join our board.

I grew up in Linnton right across the bridge and I even lived in St. Johns for a small period of time when I was about 2 or 3. My parents graduated from Roosevelt years ago and my best friend went there too. I'm at Oregon State right now as a F&W student but I go back home to Linnton on winter, spring, and summer breaks.

Good luck fishing this year! And if you ever have any questions about anything feel free to ask our trusted board members.
