Thread: hello

  1. Default hello

Hello, I have read every book I can get my hands on about steelhead fishing and drift boats. I love being on a river. I was born in Canada and moved to Portland were my father played for the Buckaroos years ago. I live in Canada now but my family returns to the Cannon Beach area every year for Christmas were my father and I spend as much time as Weather permits being on the rivers along the coast.... Wilson, Trask, Nestucca... We purchased our own boat a year ago " Willie " and it is my pride and joy as I can use it at home on our famous bow river for Fly fishing also... I am looking forward to learning as much as I can on the art of drift fishing, plugging... for steelhead and hope to meet a few of you on the water and learn more about these lovely rivers and the art of drift boat fishing. I look forward to buddy boating down the rivers and sharing a wonderful day with people that share the same love for fishing...

I wish you all fun filled days on the river, be safe to fish another day...

Welcome to the SSSF drift boat! Glad to have you here from Canada!
Anytime you will be down our direction, give the group a heads up. We can definetly plan a little gathering of a boat or two I'm sure! If you need tips in the meantime, don't be afraid to ask...Technique is one of the most hotly debated fishing topics. And almost all mentioned techniques are deadly effective! Hope to see some fur flingin picture from north of the border soon! And let's see the Willie! Warmest welcome, and make yourself at home!

Welcome aboard Smokey... I am one of many here who love their drift boat like you do. One topic you will find informative as well as entertaining is the drift boat. I am only one of two guys that I know of that run a Clackacraft Salmon/Steelhead Guide Model and I give as much flack about it as I get. All in fun of course. There are least a couple of guys that run Willie Drifters here as well and then there is Metal Slinger, we a re not sure what he runs... I as well as others will be looking forward to seeing your posts as well as your pic's.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys... I am looking forward to being part of a group that feels the way I do about being on the water... as soon as I learn how to post a picture, I will. I am going back down to Cannon beach at the end of the month for a few wks... I will put the dates up as soon as they are confirmed so maybe a few of us can hook up and I can learn a few tricks of the trade and maybe get lucking and have my father hook a few fish... nothing makes me happier than seeing my father with a fish on. I can even bring the bbq and some cold beer for after.

Off topic... we would like to rent a spot for a few days fishing on the Nestucca as it is a ways to drive from Cannon beach every morning and night.... any ideas...
