Default Bananas: The myth has been broken

Check this out. A marlin guide from Costa Rica put the banana curse to rest.

Perhaps, but marilin lures are quit long and at least the length of a banana. Maybe the guy painted on an eye before trolling with it.

I agree, I only doubt it because he claims it was part of his snack/food then later on in the thread states the trick is to keep the banana frozen. I don't know anyone who likes to eat frozen banana's.

You shoud try chocolate covered frozen ones sometime. They're not bad. Anyhoot, it makes perfect sence to me why the banana needs to be frozen. Anyone ever gone out on a marlin charter? The trolling speed is much faster than what we do for salmon in the ocean. Therefore if a banana were to be trolled it would need to be in a firm state otherwise it would fall apart. I see no reason why the guy would lie but even if he was you must admit it's a funny story.

Yeah you guys are probably right but I do however know of someone who put an end to the banana controversy years ago who caught as many fish with banana smeard lures against ones that weren't. His picture is at the top of the page.

2 yrs ago when Coho fishing was HOT on Sandy I smeared my spinner with banana and caught fish in 15min. I reapeated this few times with success. Banana myth is total BS!

The banana thing is stupid but he still didnt catch the marlin on banana, fighting a Marlin with a banana in its mouth and a big leader and hook? That banana aint gonna last very long and come in all pretty like in the fishes mouth, thats rediculous. I cant get a #4 treble to come in straight after a fish let alone a squishy banana on a marlin. thats just stupid.
