Thread: My Turn!

  1. #1

    Cool My Turn!

I can see from the member list that I know several of you already and I'm sure you'll know me too.
I have lived in the NW most of my life with the last 26 years in Hillsboro. I grew up in the Puget Sound area and have spent time in Montana and Utah.

I have fished since a boy with my dad and brother. Dad used to take us up into BC for a week vacationing at different lakes back in the 50's and 60's. I never figured out if it was because he liked to fish or he knew we liked to fish! I learned to fly fish in Montana on the Madison river and never knew there were anything but dry flies until a couple years ago.

I mostly fish the Wilson River and sometimes the other coastal rivers since I hate driving through Portland to get to places that are much closer to me. However this year I visited Utah for a reunion and fished my way home at several places in Eastern Oregon and in the Cascades.

I have three boats right now and need to unload one of the little drift boats so I have room for another project. I'll post a few photos of the latest project another time.

While I admit that I fish for trout most of the time I'm always trying to get my one fall chinook each year and I'm determined to learn how to catch a steelhead with my fly rod.

I look forward to learning more and sharing what little I know.

    Welcome!

If ya dont mind the presentation... You have a fair shot at bustin knux with a Steelhead if you were to indicator fish a weighted fly(jig) through the regular jig water... I see a couple guys like Rob Crandall do it with much success, on the Clack after all of us coon 'em out on...coons... Anyhoo, make yerself at home, and if you'd want to, I'd row around with fur flingers anytime!
