Default first one on the vise

Went over to Dillons place for fly tying 101 yesterday and came up with this. I'll call it a Mariboo-ya. I'm going to fish this thing next time out. Maribou and dubbing with a little flash on a waddington shank with stinger hook. Basically a wombat. Now I'm hooked on fly tying. When will this madness end????

Nice color choice. That's a fish killer for sure.

Nice tie! I agree, that color should be a killer! I used a fly like that in AK and it was a domminator for sure : )

Charlie, the madness never ends...next project you'll want to take on is building your own rod after tying becomes second nature.....have you started making your own tapered leaders yet?

I could see wanting to try building a rod at some point for sure. Right now only fishing sink tips. Tapered leaders may come this summer.

The pattern is essentially the Popsicle. Very popular coho fly in ak... but that has some razz-ma-tazz Charlie! Way cool. Now try all sorts of colors. Black and red would be killer I bet!

Here ya go Ian. I'm getting a little better at doing this. Here is an intruder style on a shank. Pink dubbing butt with black deer hair and black and red maribou shoulders with painted eyes , a little flash and a sparsely dubbed head.

The deer hair looks cool. Did you spin it?
