I had to look up spinning deer hair on youtube to see what you meant. I didn't spin it. I just tied it on top, rotated 180 and then did the bottom. It kind of spins itself when you pull the first couple of thread wraps tight.

Yes, they eat eggs...No, you're WRONG!!!
I just caught this thread Charlie, I'm afraid to catch the bug you got right now. Speaking of bugs those are sweet looking. I'm a thinking the sickness is just getting started. One day when I have more time and money I can see myself going crazy. I'll probably start with rods first![]()
Greetings All.

When You Finish Tyin The Money Pattern, [Or Something You Consider The Money Pattern], Do You Sit Back And Stare At It For Awhile?
I Do It With Spinners And My So Called "Flys".

Nice Pattern, I Am Trying To Figure Out How To Tie In A Stinger.
Kevin to tie on a stinger, use a loop of stiff braid or 20-30# mono. Lay the loop along the shank with JUST enough loop hanging off to match the hook length and two equal tag ends hanging off the other end. Now wrap the loop on the shank with your bobbin. Take the two tag ends and fold them back down towards the loop and wrap them again. Trim any exta and use a few drops of cement on the whole thing. You should have a loop left that is about the same length as the hook. Now pass the loop through the hook eye and around the bend and pull it tight and you have your stinger.
I always gaze in admiration at my creations. Who doesn't? Either that or I think, "that looks like crap" and throw it in the trash.
One thing I do on stringers is push the tags thru the eye of the shank (front fly) and then pull back toward the loop. This way its kindof locked in.
Do not start building your own leaders. I got into this a few years ago but man, the reality is that tapered leaders are so cheap and easily accessible they are worth it. I am a tinkering type of person so I totally understand to want to do it but I am drawing the line at the leaders. Just buy them.
Your flies are looking good. Think long and hard about what type of flies you like to fish best and then make those. I started tying and went through a year or so of wanting to use every material in the book and I now have boxes of stuff that I no longer use. Now I tie my few favorite patterns because they are easy and fast to make. I keep them simple because they work and when I loose them I am not sad. I stopped using a lot of the fancy expensive stuff I just thought I HAD to have in the early stages.
And, yes the madness never ends.
greetings all.
Wow!! thanks for all that great info, I didn't mean to hijack charlies thread for it though....Geech. You Gentlemen Are Helpful Thank you Kindly.
My Sincerest Apologies Charlie, Sorry. Wasn't My Intention To Go Blathering On. this is your thread. And its about feedbacking your first creation off the vise for the 2 handed flinging. Which is still a most excellent offering. I have always liked red and black comboes. Keep it up. Its inspiring.
Its a tying thread Kevin. No problemo.
