    Default Down time tying

High water keeps me home, but not away. Tied this up tonight. I'll swing it someday I think.

Spade, I threw the tag away but I think its closer to a #2. Little big but easier to tie.

On the fly, throax is purple chenille. Little ball of it in there to flare the wings. Don't know all the materials as I got them from my father in laws birds but here goes:

    Tail: golden pheasant
    tag: gold tinsel
    body: purple floss
    rib: red copper wire
throat: tips of a feather from a golden pheasant
    wing: squirrel tail
    thorax: purple chenille
(not sure the name) eyes (little feather on the side): quail

And I tried some fancy on the head (i'm not great at nice looking heads yet) there is a reflective blue collar on the black thread head.

I've only tied big winter flies on shanks. Now I have to learn some basic patterns on hooks. That look like a good one.

I need to get some shanks myself. Im trying the squidro and they might work well on them.
