That pattern looks pretty fishy, I have try it one time before with no luck, if ED says is a effective pattern, I guess I have to give it a try again!!
It works. We do the same thing with a white yarn Vail instead of marabou.
Wow you should enter some of these jig swaps.
fishing is a family thing and crabbing and camping and...
Nice looking tie.
Thanks guys. I used to use white yarn for the veil/skein, but I just wanted to have something just a little extra. Last few outings I've had good success with marabou jigs and we'll see soon how these babies will work out. I'll also buy a hot glue gun this week and try some single egg and cluster of eggs on shank with the same idea...
Also, try the 'single string' of egg skein on the top of the fly made with marabou or teased out tufts of sss yarn. It rides a little better in the water than the full palmer, from my experience, and is just as effective.
Also, where's that pic of the crazy cerise one I made for chums a couple of years ago that I made Mathew take a picture of? He posted it once. It lasted all of 1 fish before it was destroyed.
Back to the point. That's a sweet fly and totally works.

I've used that pattern many times and the action of that chicken hair drives um crazy. Try throwing a little sparkle in those babies to get that bling.
You should feel confident when fishing that pattern cuz they'll work.
I tied a jig or 2 much like that, looks super fishy! When are you going to test it out?
