Sorry, I'm not going to be much help. I have been to Yellowstone but I was about 9 so as far as the best route I'm really not sure. I do hope you have some time to spend. It is a very big park and there is alot to do and see. We spent a week and didn't get to everything.

I think you head east ha-ha. Nice choise it is beautiful over there. my family used to go to Bozeman area every few years for the rodeo CNFR and we would go through the tip of yellowstone sometime and through Glacier nat.park on the way back, northern Idaho.

Ian(arctic) takes my sisters LaCrosse team to Wyoming every year. Last year on the way home, they all stopped at a place called Moon Craters, or something along those lines. I think it was in Idaho. Anyways, he goes every year, and they always bring back sweet pictures. Ask about the Cutthroat too. He used to really put a hurt on 'em!

It is Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. If you take 84 all the way out, you can hit many great scenic spots. Some, in close proximity to Yellowstone are Haggerman Fossil Beds, right off 84. And if you get off on 26, and head up past Shoshone you will come to the Craters of the Moon State Park, between Carey, and Arco. If you come at Yellowstone from the south, on 26, you go through Grand Teton National Park. It is a truly amazing place when viewed from the low, flat swamps, and grasslands surrounding the maountain range. Great place. Fun trip out there, and lots to do on the drive there, and drive home.

Stuart. 84 is probably your best bet at a direct route. You take the HWY 86 spilt, and head north east, towords Pocatello. Then take the HWY 15 north exit, and head to Idaho falls, where you get on the 20, which takes you all the way there I believe. If not, the signage should be well marked, and easy to find from there... That is probably the most direct route I can think of right now. I was thinking I-90, to 191 south, but it takes 4 hours just to get on to I-90 from Portland... So I think I-84 is your quickest drive. Lots to see right off the highway. The I-90 drive is nice though, and a stop in Cour de Alene is always nice on the last stint home. Have fun with the family!

Thanks so much for the Input guys and gals. We will probably go in to Cordelane Idaho and visit some family and then into Montana that way but I think we will come back through southern Idaho I84 and look for some of those things you mentioned Artic..Thanks
