Default how expensive can fish be

The new guy justonefish said his next fish will be about a thousand dollars. so my story start off with I want a way to get out of the sun when fishing because I burn bad and within 20 minutes. So me and Tracy start hunting on craigslist and after about 6 months we finnaly find what we think will be a steal, $1995 for a 19ft 1975 reinell, our friend call it the cream cicle cause it is orange with white trim. I talk to the guy with the boat and made arrangments to come see it. The beast is huge but I like it and looks sound. So next we start to fire it up the guy tells us he hasn't started it for a couple weeks, old chevy straight six, yea it will take a bit but I know what to look and listen for. We determined that the battery was dead so we jumped it with our truck, and the engine started cranking it sound really strong but no fire yet o problem just got to get the gas back up to the engine. Ok so the guy next door hears us trying to fire it up and comes over he is a mechanic, Tracy and I know quite a bit about engines atc but it helps to have him. we finally got it started and I put my hand down in the first exhaust to get a smell of it, it is fine just a little rich from pouring gas straight into the carb, so it runns for about 4-5 minutes and then dies we figured it may have run out of gas because the tank gauge showed empty in the first place. For the most part this boat should go striaght in the water after a tune up because it did sit in a garage for at least 3 years. Oh and it will need new ties they were junk. So we get it home and Tracy starts to messing with stuff and trying to fire it back up. No luck hust a bunch of spitting and sputtering so he pulles the plug wires off to check spark plugs and one wire is realy loose so we grab one from my car. Still no go so he pulls a plug out and there is water beaded up around the end, so now we know this is gonna take some time to fix "CRAP". Anyway to shorten this some our neighbor kid besided to pour milk in the gas tank also. we found a guy who said he would get us in the water for our Prineville trip. Well everything on his end happened to slow him up too so Tracy spent wed. and thur. night up there till really late helping and most of friday the day we were supposed to leave arround 10 am so we had to repalce the lower unit the whole engine cause the block was cracked. So here is our total so far 1995 for the boat, 900 for the lower unit, 2000 for the engine, several hundred for labor + 2 6-packs of Hamms so far, and the boat still did not work right but there was not a way to know that until it was on the water, we think it is just linkage needing adjustment to get it up on plane. Now the only fish caught in that boat so far was 1 trout, 1 cat fish, and 1 crappie. I'll let you do the math. Oh and the guy that has worked on our boat so far is a really nice guy and I will continue to go to him and highly recomend him

    this is the cream cicle.

Oh and when it was at the mechanic he has a small tractor with a ball hitch on the front for moving the boats around and he set ours down and it started to roll toward a really exspensive boat and he had to make a choice and it was to stop our boat with the tractor and there is a scratch you can see right under the reg. ##'s, its very supperficial and he has a fiber glass guy who is gonna fix it when we get it back to him for the linkage. I can't wait till it is all finnished, yes I know it will never be. You all know what boat stands for B-reak, O-ut, A-nother, T-housand. Ha-Ha

    Default Expensive Fish

I feel your pain. I'm sorry, but I forgot to mention the five Sandy River suckers I caught. Their value is about two hundred dollars a piece. It's not really a dollars thing for me as much as I'd like to get into a battle with a nice little chromer. The dollars thing is just a barometer I use to stop the purchase of unneeded fishing gear. NO MORE UNTIL I CATCH A FISH! Repeat... NO MORE UNTIL I CATCH A FISH... and yet I still go to the "used fishing equipment" when I sit down to my computer. Good thing I don't purchase everything I think is a good buy.
