Default How to film when you're all alone?

I have recently picked up a Sony Handycam and started thinking about how the heck Matt records his videos. Started doing some searching and came across things like this:

"Hat Cam" but the video is shaky and sub-par IMO. And if you go to their website....you almost want to laugh out loud. www.hatcams.com

Any advise? Is it really just tripod it and fish in front of it? I love watching Matt's 1st person videos because it feels like you're the guy doing the catching. And if you were the guy (or gal) doing the catching, then you know what that fish felt like and relive it all the time.

Hm...a search for "lipstick camera" came up with this video: Now that's a hatcam.
