Nestled in the not so scenic Columbia Basin is the seven mile long spring fed stream of Rocky Ford. The stream is heavily choked by vegetation in all but the coldest months and bordered by dense cattail growth. This fly fishing only stream is heavily stocked by Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. Catching fish isn’t hard here and if you are looking for a day of catching trout in a not-so-scenic place then this place is for you.

I agree on a small mouse pattern might be fun, as well as a large instigator-scud dropper. Are you running your leader direct to the commando head, or are you using a float tip?

I am a very lousy fly angler. But on the them hitting the bobber thing, I used to get em on these big ugly flies that looked like a fat water-skipper. Only place I can imagine that working. They were like pieces of red or black foam with 4 pipe cleaner-like legs sticking off em.
I KNEW it was Rocky Ford when I saw that title! Great catching! No wading I think there too. Back in the mid-2000s at least there were monsters in there (that had been caught 400 times).
