Azura Marine Earth’s first solar electric boat “Surya Namaskar” on the day of her naming ceremony and maiden voyage in Bali, Indonesia, the 26th July 2017.

Surya Namaskar is a traditional jukung – Balinese fishing boat – that has been converted to solar electric. Her solar roof, made of 32 solar panels, can harvest up to 5000 W of electric power from the sun, the energy is stored in an 8 kWh battery bank and the outboard electric motor has a continuous power of 10 kW and 15 kW peak. Surya Namaskar can carry up to 6 people by calm weather, sail at 6 knots continuously, at 15 knots top speed and has a range of about 25 nautical miles without sun at 6 knots. She is equipped with a live power monitoring and control system, GPS, LED lights – including underwater.

With no fossil fuels onboard and no need for recharching, this solar electric boat truly respects the ocean, leaving nothing behind but a small wake. Surya Namaskar invites her passengers into a new realm of silent, vibration free, odorless environmentally-friendly sailing experience.

Refueling and maintenance are irrelevant on this boat opening the doors to limitless exploration of any marine areas, including the most fragile.
