Major Winter Storm Elliott: What You Need To Know About This Dangerous Storm
It’s now looking likely that major winter storm Elliot could now every well become our next SUPER STORM as it bring crippling blizzards, very heavy snow to the great lakes and near hurricane force winds with gusts 55 to 80 mph. Another dangerous to potentially deadly aspect to this storm will be the historic arctic outbreak as all model guidance have Windchill’s in the -30 to -50 degree range but a few areas especially in Wyoming and the Dakotas could have Windchill’s as low as -65 degrees. So here’s my Chicago update
First I am
Very disappointed in the Euro and GFS models as far as snow totals I’ve been living here all my life and never seen a Huge Miss like this some spots only got 1” of snow
We went from 12” to 18” Monday Night to 5” to 8” Tuesday and Wednesday and literally several hours before the storm hit most of the models were dead wrong
Just some numbers
Gary,In was expecting 11.5 inches at 9am they only received 3.5”
O’hare = 1.1”
Midway = 2.2”
Naperville = 2.0”
Chicago Heights = 2.5”
Lansing = 2.5”
Joliet = 1.3 Very sad
Peru, Il = 0.6 💀

We are batening down the hatches here. We are not use to this cold of weather here in the Southeast. I have been through it maybe one time when I was young but the wind chill was not as bad.
Thanks for the update David. I talked to my good friend in Ohio with family in Michigan. Thankfully they are all prepared the Elliott!!

LOL, local weather here in Kentucky went from "it will be a rain event" to 'Uhh…we could see some travel impacts…' within about 18 hours…You said this was a possibility 6 days ago? Thanks for the heads up, i'm all set up even if the power goes out.

I know weather changes I just hate that all Chicago weather stations over exaggerates EVERYTIME they said 14 to 18 inches of snow and they changed it to 6 inches by tomorrow they’ll say never mind 2 inches 😂 , they disrupted and caused so much chaos for snowflakes Blizzard warning lol That’s why I don’t even pay attention to the news anymore everything is over exaggerated

Yep we have 4 different warning for south Mississippi here. Will drop from 60 now, to 20, possibly even lower by morning. Getting the plants finished up now for this. Check with everyone you know, and make sure they are prepared. Don't forget your animals and plants, too! My neighbor and I feed a dozen stray cats in our neighborhood, and we have prepared 'boxes' for them using Styrofoam coolers and other things for them to hide in during the worst this weekend. Cats love boxes, if you build them, they will come lol! Prayers for warmth and safety for everyone through all of this. I can't even imagine being up north in those monstrous wind chill temps. Thanks for what you do, David! Long time watcher here, I didnt know you changed channels, or where you went, and recently found you again.
