How To Catch Shallow Bass In The Fall!!
Shallow bass can be tough! You see them chasing baitfish in the backs of coves or splashing around grass edges but can you catch them? Sure you can! These are the tricks we use to catch shallow fish all through the Fall!
Bass have seen a lot of lures by Mid Fall. If they’ve been living in the shallows they’ve seen worms, topwater, crankbaits, and a variety of other lures on a daily basis. These fish are educated and wary but they still need to eat! We rely on downsized presentations with key sounds and colors to draw reaction strikes from these shallow water bass.
Below you’ll find links to the exact baits Tim discussed in the video. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see photos and descriptions of each item. We’ve even included some of our favorite rods for throwing the different lures.

Love square bill fishing. Currently have doybns champion 705cb. Looking for an even better rod would the imx pro 845 or 855 be that rod? Or another rod thanks love the videos
I’ve been using the huddleson shad and I can’t get them to run straight. any tips on this? Thank you for your videos, they are a game changer.
I'm in central Illinois and I have been casting out everything I have a I'm not having any luck what so ever 2 day's ago I watched 15 fish getting pulled out of the water every one around me was catching fish but me and I don't know what I'm going wrong
Nice way to catch the fish 🎣👌
That Kaiera is fire. I’ve caught the snot out of em on this bait
These are the times my Go-Devil mud boat shines. I can get crazy shallow and not worry about a pretty glass boat bottom. Good stuff Tim…thanks for what you do!
What water temps are you fishing, and in the last video? You might have said it I may have missed it. Thanks
Great information. Watching the action behind you is awesome.
He lookin comfh tho in the bibs!
As a Florida guy, who fishes small shallower lakes. Is this exactly what I need or is it still to hot down here for this? Thanks guys!!
Do you have a split ring attached to the eyelet of the shower blows? I attached a small oval one to the eyelet and the lure nose dives and the cupped face of the lure doesn't catch the surface of the water to 'splash/spray' water…
Thanks for this video! Here I just emailed you guys about similar situation on a smaller local lake and this pretty much addressed all my questions.
6:38 Turn around!!!!
Please post your videos on RUMBLE, they believe in free speech.
You are 100% correct Tim, they are so shallow right now and vicious, biting several times on a cast. Typical Kentucky bites.
You did a great job presenting this video. Very well done.
Damn. Tennessee already doesn’t have leaves on the trees? Here in Texas they just started to drop maybe last week
I appreciate the content guys. I’m on Chick as well and you guys have really improved my amount of fun this fall. Throwing a lipless into a wad of hybrids has been the most fun I’ve had on the lake in awhile.
Our ponds and lakes in Texas actually are filling now. The opposite of what you said because we had a massive devastating drought and the drought just recently came to an end. We’ve now had 2 big (all day) rains where we got 2” of rain or more and we have another big storm expected tomorrow so our lakes in Texas are actually rising so we have almost TOO much lay downs and grass right now as the shoreline floods.
GoPro’s suck which is why i use the DJI Osmo action instead. It has better battery life, doesn’t overheat as often as a GoPro and it’s half the price. I live in Texas so my GoPro was useless from April to November because it overheated constantly. As for what i use in shallow water i like a shallow diving crankbait. It works great for me. I’ll tear em up on a 1-4’ diving crankbait. Spinnerbaits and Texas rigs work well too.
Tim I just used a 1/4 oz 6th sense black and blue crank bait to catch a 25 lb limit here in Fort Worth on BFS tackle. I was just running and gunning like you said. Caught em all in <2 feet of water. Check it out if you want to here’s the link!

Hey everyone, so I’ve lost my fish. I had fished that were pinned up shallow in some trees. They were there for a few weeks. Fish were actively blowing up on them all day. Pinning them up against the trees and the shoreline. The whole
Lake had that pattern. Back of the creek arms all pinned up. Didn’t fish for like two weeks maybe… went out on Halloween.. nothing bait was gone and not one blowup. It’s like the fish got abducted by aliens.. just gone.. so I’m wondering did they go deep? I was shocked at how fast they transitioned. I’m in California too so the weather is still stable.. we’ve had some colder temps here and there but it’s still not winter quite yet.. but it seems like they made the move… shallow bite for me is gone……. Any ideas??
So I have a small river I fish. Its probably 80 70 yards wide all the way and I've caught some monsters out of there. my question is what to do about smallmouth fishing this time of year? Been having trouble catching lately and I've tried everything I can think of. Any input would be helpful.
Will they hit a lipless crank if there's a little grass on the hook?
Another great video thanks.
U guys that have grass in you're home lakes are lucky, because on my home lake here in Southern ky, there isn't a speck of grass anywhere lol.
Damn background dogs, good video still.
👏👏 thank you Tim,the video came out just fine, didn’t even know it was your phone 🤣😂🤙
What about in South Florida where the grass is still everywhere and weather is still in the mid to upper 80s in the day time 😉
The dog barking in the background is super annoying.
Those tactical glasses are the best got mine a while back and they are better and more comfy than my $300 oakleys
Why stop at the 105 when they have an even smaller shower blows? I'm really on the struggle bus with my baitfish being tiny. When I did see what I thought were shad I caught a tiny baby crappie.
